The Egyptian Diving and Lifesaving Federation (EDLF) was established in 1983. After the October victory, Egypt received the Sinai region, and the Egyptian Federation had to be present to supervise the various sporting activities especially diving and lifesaving, that were found to be popular in tourism and sports in this area. Then, Egyptian Federation was affiliated to International Lifesaving Federation (ILS) in the same year and immediately after that affiliated to World Underwater Federation (CMAS). Three regions were formed by Egyptian Federation: Cairo – Alexandria – Canal, and then increased to four regions: Cairo – Alexandria – Ismailia – Port Said. The Egyptian Federation began his activity with seventeen clubs in three regions and it increases annually with the spread of the activity of various kinds.
